Kazakhstan Overview

Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked transcontinental country, located in Central Asia with a small portion to the west of Ural River in Eastern Europe sharing land borders with Russia in the north, China in the east, and Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan in the south while also adjoining a large part of the Caspian Sea in the southwest. It is the 9th largest country in the world covering a land area of 2,724,900 square kilometers. It has one of the lowest population density in the world with less than 6 person per sqkms and the total population is about 18.8 million. The capital is Nur-Suyltan which was formerly known as Astana. Climate is "extreme" continental climate, with warm summers and very cold winters. Kazakhstan has a literacy rate of 99.78%. 70% of the population is Muslim and 26% Christians, although Kazakhstan allows freedom of religion officially. The official languages are Kazakh & Russian though English as the global language is commonly accepted. Eligibility criteria for admission of Indian students

Rules for admission of Indian students MBBS in Government/Private Medical universities of Kazakhstan.

  • The student must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
  • The student must have completed class 12th/HSC/A Level or any equivalent board examination in science stream with combined marks of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. SC/ST/OBC student should have combined marks of 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • The student must have qualified NEET UG Examination in the same year of admission or in any of the previous 2 years.

Q. 02. Are universities in Kazakhstan recognised by NMC?

Ans.: In Kazakhstan, Medical universities are recognized by WHO, USMLE, IMED, GMC, NMC. It is very important to opt for NMC recognised universities, because after completing MBBS it is mandatory to clear FMGE/NEXT for getting license to practice or for pursuing higher studies in India.

Ans: Admissions are on first-come-first-serve basis. The procedure starts just after class 12th exam and continues till November. Students are suggested to contact accordingly and undergo the process for smooth and hurdle-free admission.

Q. 09. What is NEXT?

Ans: National Exit Test (NEXT) is a common final year examination (which will be implemented in the coming days), for the undergraduate MBBS students of Indian colleges. Clearing NEXT would qualify them to register in State or Central Level Council. It was introduced by The National Medical Commission, Bill 2019. Currently Foreign Medical Graduates are required to pass Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) which enables them to get the license to practice in India or pursue any post-graduation medical course. Implementation of NEXT will also serve as Screening Test for MBBS Students from abroad. NEXT will be common for medical students from India as well as from Foreign Medical Colleges. Student can appear multiple times for clearing FMGE/NEXT exam as there is not limit in the number of attempts. The exam held twice a year i.e. June & December.

Ans: Successful candidates can do internship in India and then pursue their career further. They can thereafter opt for further studies or start their professional career.

Q. 11. What is the mode of payment of fees? It has to be paid in which currency?

Ans: Fees of Medical Colleges are payable in US Dollar by forex company/bank through TT (Telegramic Transfer). Documents required during payment of fees are college admission letter, valid student passport/ passport application, student pan card and pan card of the person who will transfer the money to the college. All transactions are processed through parents/student’s bank account to college account only.

Q. 12: What is the mode of travel?

Ans: Flights, Trains and Buses are frequent for travelling within Kazakhstan. For international travel most of the major cities in India are connected to Kazakhstan by air.

Ans: Kazakhstan is well connected with India by flight. It takes 3h 45m to reach from Delhi to Almaty. Flight rates would be around 12000- 15000 per person.
